Early in-person absentee voting for the November 3, 2026 general election is underway in Jefferson County, with voters casting ballots at the Jefferson County Board of Elections office in downtown Steubenville. The board is located at 500 Market St., Suite 1, and early ballots are cast there, not at a voter’s regular precinct polling place on Election Day.

This week, October 19 through October 23, marks week three of early voting in the county. The board office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for in-person absentee voting. Voters with questions about early voting hours, their registration status or what identification to bring can reach the board by phone at 740-283-8522 during those hours.

Weekend voting begins this weekend. The board will hold its first Saturday session on Saturday, October 24, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., giving voters who work during weekday hours an additional opportunity to cast an early ballot in person. The Saturday hours are held at the same Market Street office, and no appointment is needed to vote early in person.

Hours expand during the final week before Election Day. On Monday, October 26, the board will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and on Tuesday, October 27, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. From Wednesday, October 28 through Friday, October 30, hours are 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. each day, followed by Saturday, October 31, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, November 1, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Voting by mail is also underway. Absentee voting by mail began October 6, and applications for a mail ballot must be received by the board no later than Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 8:30 p.m. All absentee ballots must be received by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day to be counted on election night. Military and overseas voting began September 18.

The voter registration deadline for this election was October 5, 2026, at 9 p.m., so the rolls for the November 3 election are now closed to new registrations. Registered voters can prepare before they go by viewing a sample ballot ahead of time through the board of elections or the Ohio Secretary of State voter lookup, so they can review the races and issues for their precinct.
