Lake County voters head to their polling places today, Tuesday, November 3, 2026, as Election Day arrives in Painesville and across the county, with all Lake County polling locations open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., according to the Lake County Board of Elections.

The board, at 105 Main Street, Suite 107, in Painesville, directed voters to its polling-location search to confirm their assigned Election Day polling place before heading out, and reminded voters they can reach the office at 440-350-2700 with questions.

One deadline is absolute this year: absentee ballots must be received by the Board of Elections no later than 7:30 p.m. today, November 3, the board stated. There is no grace period for most voters, so a completed absentee ballot still at home should be delivered to the board office in Painesville by the close of polls — not mailed, and not taken to a polling place.

Lake County’s early and absentee season was substantial. The Ohio Secretary of State’s absentee reporting for Lake County, last updated Monday afternoon, November 2, covered 43,767 voter records — a measure of how many county voters engaged with the absentee and early process before Election Day itself.

On the ballot, Lake County voters join all Ohio voters in deciding the statewide races — governor, U.S. senator, attorney general, auditor, secretary of state and treasurer, plus the Ohio Supreme Court seats — and statewide State Issue 3, the proposed constitutional amendment on voter photo identification. The county’s verified first-pass coverage also recorded two contested commissioner races and city levies on the local ballot.

Early in-person voting, which ran at the board office from October 6, ended Sunday, November 1, under the Ohio Secretary of State’s statewide schedule. Voters who did not take part now have one route left: their assigned polling place, today, before 7:30 p.m.

What happens next is the count. Polls close at 7:30 p.m., and the Lake County Board of Elections will report unofficial results tonight, with the official canvass and certification to follow in the coming days. Any voter in line at 7:30 p.m. is entitled to cast a ballot.
