A physician-led emergency medicine group has taken over management of the emergency department at Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan, in a transition that took effect November 1, according to an announcement released November 2 via ACCESS Newswire by Emergency Care Partners.
Ohio Emergency Medicine Services, a physician-led group that is part of the Emergency Care Partners network, will manage emergency department services at the hospital, the announcement said. Day-to-day clinical operations will be led by Medical Director Dr. Harrison Zeitler and Associate Medical Director Dr. Sheldon Rose.
Hocking Valley Community Hospital is a critical access hospital serving Logan, Hocking County and the surrounding Hocking Hills region, according to the announcement. The hospital is a community nonprofit offering an emergency department along with clinical, specialty, telehealth and outpatient services.
In the announcement released via ACCESS Newswire, Dr. David Yin, regional medical director of Ohio Emergency Medicine Services, said the group is proud to partner with the hospital and to be part of the care the community counts on, noting that rural emergency departments are the front door to care for many families. He said the team will bring consistent physician leadership, a focus on quality and patient experience, and close collaboration with the hospital’s medical staff and nursing teams.
Dr. Michael Tornwall, the hospital’s chief of staff, said in the same announcement that the hospital is pleased to welcome the group’s providers, calling their experience, commitment to quality care and focus on patient-centered emergency medicine valuable assets, and said the hospital looks forward to working together to keep emergency services available in the community.
The announcement stressed that emergency services at Hocking Valley Community Hospital remain open 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the transition, so Hocking County residents should see no interruption in emergency care. Ohio Emergency Medicine Services also provides emergency department services at Salem Regional Medical Center in Salem, and the group was founded in 2026 under Dr. Yin’s leadership, according to the announcement.
As part of the Emergency Care Partners network, the group keeps local physician leadership while drawing on shared support for recruiting, compliance, scheduling and operations, the announcement said. Emergency medicine physicians interested in joining the team at Hocking Valley can contact the group through its website, according to the release.
