ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Muskingum County voters have entered the final week of early in-person voting for the Nov. 3 general election, with ballots being cast at the Muskingum County Board of Elections, 627 Market St. in Zanesville, according to the Ohio Secretary of State’s early-voting directory.

Early voting runs on the statewide schedule set by the Ohio Secretary of State. On Tuesday, Oct. 27, boards across Ohio — including Muskingum County’s — are open from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., the longest day of the final week. Voting continues Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 28–30, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., then Saturday, Oct. 31, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and ends Sunday, Nov. 1, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. There is no early voting on Monday, Nov. 2.

Tuesday is also a deadline day: an absentee ballot application must be received by the board of elections by 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 27, under the Ohio Secretary of State’s election calendar. Voters who have already received a mailed ballot must return it so the board has it by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3 — a postmark alone is not enough under current Ohio law.

Muskingum County’s ballot carries 10 levies and seven local option questions, according to the Zanesville Times Recorder’s ballot preview. Voters also decide state legislative races, including the 31st District State Senate contest, and the 12th District congressional race between Troy Balderson and Jerrad Christian, according to the Zanesville Times Recorder.

The county’s first-pass election story earlier this month laid out those same levies and courthouse contests; this final week is when most remaining Muskingum County voters will make their choices, whether at the Market Street early-vote office this week or at their precinct polling place on Election Day.

Election Day polls in Ohio are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and voters in line by 7:30 p.m. may still cast a ballot. Muskingum County voters with questions can contact the Board of Elections at 627 Market St. in Zanesville, the office listed in the Ohio Secretary of State’s directory.

After the polls close on Nov. 3, the board will report Muskingum County’s unofficial results, with certification to follow later in November under the Secretary of State’s calendar. NewsForce247 will return to Muskingum County with those results as part of its continuing county-by-county election coverage.
