Cuyahoga County voters are casting early ballots this week at the county Board of Elections, 1803 Superior Avenue in Cleveland, where early in-person voting runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday for the November 3 general election, according to the board and the Ohio Secretary of State.
Turnout is already substantial in Ohio’s second-most-populous county. The board’s election profile, updated October 20, counts 878,381 registered voters in Cuyahoga County, with 16,422 early in-person ballots cast so far and 50,773 vote-by-mail ballots returned out of 115,575 requested.
The board’s daily update for Monday, October 19, shows the pace behind those totals: 2,005 early in-person voters were processed that day alone, and 6,790 vote-by-mail ballots came back the same day, pushing valid mail returns past 50,000 with two weeks still to go before Election Day.
The early-voting schedule expands in the final stretch. After this week’s 8-to-5 weekdays, the board is open Saturday, October 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., then Monday, October 26 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 27 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and October 28 through 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The last weekend offers Saturday, October 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, November 1 from 1 to 5 p.m., the final day of early in-person voting.
Tuesday, October 27 is also a key deadline: absentee ballot applications must be received by the board by 8:30 p.m. that day. Voted absentee ballots must arrive at the board by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day. Early voters need one acceptable photo ID, such as an Ohio driver license, Ohio state ID, U.S. passport or military ID; a digital ID in Apple Wallet is not accepted.
The November 3 ballot is a full one across the county. The board’s profile counts 59 municipalities, 897 precincts and 269 voting locations, with 92 candidates and 105 issues — one state, five county, six school and 93 municipal — though each voter’s ballot depends on their home address, and the board offers sample-ballot lookups by address.
On Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at each voter’s precinct polling place — not at the board office — and anyone in line at 7:30 p.m. may still vote, the board says.
