Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group LLC announced its entry into Ohio on Friday, bringing its lending platform and support to mortgage bankers and homebuyers across the state, with its efforts focused on the Dayton and Cincinnati areas in Southwest Ohio.
The move, announced from Dayton, Ohio, and Virginia Beach, Virginia, continues the company’s retail expansion. That expansion recently included Atlantic Bay’s first branch in Louisiana, and company officials said entering Ohio now extends its multistate footprint into a state where it sees a strong fit for its approach to home lending.
Atlantic Bay said Ohio’s mix of major metropolitan areas, smaller cities and close-knit communities fits its model. That model pairs local decision-making and community relationships with centralized support, a combination the company presented as central to how its mortgage bankers serve borrowers and work alongside real estate agents.
The Ohio expansion also builds on the company’s existing presence in neighboring Indiana and Kentucky. In the Cincinnati area, Atlantic Bay noted, home searches often cross all three state lines, so adding Ohio will let its bankers serve borrowers and agents wherever those searches take them, rather than stopping at a state boundary.
Kevin Cooke, an executive vice president and regional manager who joined Atlantic Bay in 2015, will oversee the company’s Ohio efforts. Cooke’s focus, the company said, will be on building a local team in Ohio grounded in personalized service and community relationships.
For homebuyers in Southwest Ohio, the entry means an additional lending option whose bankers are intended to work locally in the Dayton and Cincinnati markets while drawing on a larger, centralized operation for support. For real estate agents, it adds a lender that says it wants to follow clients across the tri-state area as homes are listed, searched and bought on both sides of the Ohio River and across nearby state lines.
Atlantic Bay did not announce specific branch addresses, lending rates or a hiring total in its announcement. The next step described by the company is building out the Ohio team under Cooke as it establishes its presence in the state and begins serving Ohio borrowers through its platform.
