Adams County voters heading into the final week of early voting can cast an in-person absentee ballot at the Adams County Board of Elections in West Union, according to the Ohio Secretary of State. The board office is at 923 Sunrise Ave, Room 101, West Union, OH 45693. Early in-person voting continues through Sunday, Nov. 1, the last day of early voting before the Tuesday, Nov. 3 general election.
Saturday, Oct. 24 offered voters an 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. window as early voting moved into its final stretch. The coming week brings the longest hours of the early voting period, including evening hours and a final weekend in West Union.
The final week opens Monday, Oct. 26, when early voting hours run from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. On Tuesday, Oct. 27, the office stays open later, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Voting then continues Wednesday, Oct. 28 through Friday, Oct. 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. each day, under the statewide schedule from the Secretary of State.
The last weekend of early voting gives residents two more chances to cast a ballot in person. On Saturday, Oct. 31, hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Sunday, Nov. 1, voters can cast an early ballot from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. That Sunday is the final day of early in-person voting; after it, the next opportunity to vote in person is Election Day.
Tuesday, Oct. 27 is also an important deadline for voters who prefer to vote absentee by mail. Absentee ballot applications must be received by the board of elections by 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Voters who have received a domestic absentee ballot should note the return deadline as well: those ballots must be received by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3.
On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, polls in Adams County will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Voters who have not cast an early or absentee ballot can vote at the polls during those hours.
Among the ballot items Adams County voters will decide on Nov. 3 is a developmental disabilities levy, an item carried over from the county’s earlier ballot coverage this fall. Local levies like that one are decided entirely by the voters of the county they serve, making turnout across Adams County the deciding factor when polls close on Nov. 3.
For Adams County residents, the message is simple: the board office at 923 Sunrise Ave, Room 101 in West Union is open for early voting through Sunday, Nov. 1. After that, Election Day voting runs from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and domestic absentee ballots must be received by 7:30 p.m. that day.
