Guernsey County voters head to the polls on Tuesday, November 3, for the 2026 general election after early in-person voting ended Sunday, November 1, at the Guernsey County Board of Elections in Cambridge. Polls across the county will be open Tuesday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Board of Elections, at 627 Wheeling Avenue, Suite 101, in Cambridge, held no early voting on Monday, November 2, under the statewide schedule posted on the board’s website. The board also notes on its site that it will not move to its new location at 612 Steubenville Avenue until after the November general election, so Election Day business — including ballot drop-off — happens at the Wheeling Avenue office.
Absentee voters face a harder deadline than in past Ohio elections. Under Senate Bill 293, signed by Gov. Mike DeWine in December 2025, absentee ballots must arrive by the close of polls on Election Day to be counted, with an exception for military and overseas voters, The Columbus Dispatch reported. The Guernsey County board’s own notice gives the same 7:30 p.m. Tuesday deadline: voted ballots may be hand-carried to the secure drop box in front of 627 Wheeling Avenue or into the office by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, and no ballots will be accepted after that time.
The top local race on Guernsey County ballots is for county commissioner, where incumbent Republican Dave Wilson of Cambridge is challenged by Democrat Tom Hannon of Senecaville, according to The Daily Jeffersonian. Wilson, first elected in 2014, touted major projects completed during his tenure in his responses to The Daily Jeffersonian, while Hannon, whose background is as a teacher and mechanical engineer, told the newspaper he wants to represent all of Guernsey County, including its rural areas.
Voters will also decide a slate of local levies presented at the AVC News Meet the Candidates forum for this election: the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center’s Meals on Wheels program levy, the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office 911 system levy, the Guernsey County Children Services levy, the Guernsey County District Public Library levy and a Cambridge City Schools renewal tax levy.
What happens next: polls are open Tuesday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and anyone in line at 7:30 p.m. can still vote. Voters who still hold an absentee ballot should deliver it to the Wheeling Avenue drop box or office by 7:30 p.m. Tuesday rather than mailing it. Sample ballots for every Guernsey County precinct are available through the Ohio Secretary of State’s website, and the Board of Elections can be reached at 740-432-2680.
