Gallia County Voters Head to Polls Tuesday After Early Voting Ends in GallipolisThe Gallia County Courthouse in Gallipolis, home to the county board of elections.

Gallia County voters head to their polling places Tuesday, Nov. 3, after early in-person voting ended Sunday in Gallipolis. The Gallia County Board of Elections, on the second floor of the county courthouse at 18 Locust Street in Gallipolis, closed early voting at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, according to the board’s official notices, and there is no voting at the board office on Monday, Nov. 2.

On Election Day, polls across Gallia County are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and voters cast ballots at their assigned polling places, according to the Ohio Secretary of State’s 2026 voting schedule. Voters who are unsure of their polling place can check their sample ballot through the Secretary of State’s voter lookup for Gallia County.

One deadline matters more this year than in past cycles. Under Senate Bill 293, signed by Gov. Mike DeWine in December 2025, absentee ballots must arrive by the close of polls on Election Day to be counted, with an exception for military and overseas voters, the Columbus Dispatch reported. The old four-day grace period is gone, so the Dispatch advised voters it is likely too late to mail a ballot and recommended dropping it off in person at the board of elections — for Gallia County, the courthouse at 18 Locust Street in Gallipolis — by 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Gallia County voters will see the statewide races and State Issue 3 at the top of the ballot, along with legislative races for the county’s districts. The county is represented in the Ohio Senate’s District 17 and the Ohio House’s District 93, according to the Secretary of State’s Gallia County ballot display, and voters will also decide the local races and fire levies previewed in our first-pass coverage of the county’s ballot.

County offices and judgeships appear on the county board’s sample ballots, which are available through the Secretary of State’s lookup tool by precinct. Election officials remind voters to bring acceptable identification and to double-check their precinct before heading out, since Election Day voting happens at assigned locations rather than at the courthouse.

What happens next: polls close at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, and the board of elections will begin reporting unofficial results that evening. NewsForce247 will follow Gallia County’s returns as part of its second-pass county coverage, and any ballot still in hand Tuesday should be hand-delivered to the board in Gallipolis rather than mailed.
