Vinton County voters have one last chance to cast an early ballot on Sunday, Nov. 1, as early in-person voting for the Nov. 3 general election closes with afternoon hours in McArthur, according to the Ohio Secretary of State’s official voting schedule.
Early in-person voting runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, the final day of the early-voting period that began Oct. 6, according to the Secretary of State’s schedule. There is no early in-person voting on Monday, Nov. 2, the day before Election Day.
Voters who still hold an absentee ballot should plan to deliver it in person rather than mail it. Under Senate Bill 293, signed by Gov. Mike DeWine in December 2025, absentee ballots must now arrive by the close of polls on Election Day to be counted, and the former four-day grace period after Election Day no longer applies, the Columbus Dispatch reported. Secretary of State Frank LaRose said on Oct. 27 that it might already be too late to mail a ballot and have it arrive by the deadline, according to Cleveland.com reporting cited by the Dispatch.
For Vinton County, the Dispatch’s statewide drop-off list places ballot return at the Community Building, Unit 1, 31935 State Route 93 in McArthur. Ballots must be in the board of elections’ hands by 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
On Election Day itself, polls across Ohio are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., according to the Secretary of State. Voters who vote in person, early or on Election Day, must bring an accepted form of photo identification.
Vinton County’s ballot is topped locally by the race to pick a new county commissioner, alongside the statewide races every Ohio voter will decide, including the eight statewide offices and State Issue 3, the proposed constitutional amendment on voter photo identification. NewsForce247 introduced the county’s ballot earlier this fall, when Vinton County voters were first introduced to the commissioner contest and the courthouse offices on the Nov. 3 ballot.
What happens next: early voting ends at 5 p.m. Sunday. Election Day follows on Tuesday, Nov. 3, with polls open 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and unofficial county results will be reported after polls close.
