Van Wert County voters are in the final week of early in-person voting for the Tuesday, November 3, 2026 general election, with ballots being cast at the Van Wert County Board of Elections, 1362 East Ervin Road in Van Wert, according to the board’s listing with the Ohio Secretary of State.
Early in-person voting runs statewide through Sunday, November 1, and there is no early voting on Monday, November 2, according to the Ohio Secretary of State’s 2026 voting schedule. In the final week, boards are open Wednesday, October 28 through Friday, October 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday, October 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, November 1 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the Secretary of State’s schedule says.
The Van Wert County Board of Elections lists its regular office hours as 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with contact by phone at 419-238-4192, according to its page on the Ohio boards of elections site. Its current-election notice confirms that early in-person voting and absentee voting by mail are available for the November 3 general election.
The deadline to request an absentee ballot was Tuesday, October 27 at 8:30 p.m., according to the Secretary of State’s schedule. Non-military and non-overseas absentee ballots must be received by the board of elections by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day to be counted, the schedule says — a postmark alone is not enough under the current rules.
Every voter must provide proof of identity before voting, according to the Van Wert County board. Accepted forms include an Ohio driver’s license, state ID card or interim ID form issued by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, a U.S. military or Ohio National Guard ID card, a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs ID card, or a U.S. passport or passport card, the board says, noting that a notice mailed by the board cannot be used as identification.
Voter registration for this election closed Monday, October 5 at 9 p.m., according to the board. Voters can confirm their precinct and Election Day polling location through the board’s “Where Do I Vote on Election Day?” tool and through the Secretary of State’s voter lookup.
On Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, polling locations in Van Wert County will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., according to the board. Voters who are in line by 7:30 p.m. may vote, and anyone who has not voted early or by mail should plan to vote at their assigned precinct location that day.
