The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Dominick Newby, 20, and Jayshawn Collins, 19, who were both wanted for their alleged roles in the fatal shooting of a Maple Heights man outside Angie’s Soul Café in June. Officials said the suspects were located and apprehended without incident following coordinated efforts between local and federal law enforcement agencies.
According to investigators, the shooting occurred in the parking lot of the popular soul food restaurant, leaving one man dead and prompting an intensive months-long search for those responsible. While specific details about the motive have not been released, Cleveland Police previously identified Newby and Collins as prime suspects after reviewing surveillance footage and witness statements.
“These arrests demonstrate the commitment of our task force to bringing violent offenders to justice,” said a spokesperson for the U.S. Marshals Service. “We’re proud of the collaborative effort between our federal and local partners that led to a swift and safe resolution.”
Both Newby and Collins are being held pending formal charges and their initial court appearances. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting remains ongoing.
