WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Two people were shot and taken to a hospital early Sunday morning in Whitewater Township, in western Hamilton County, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, as reported by FOX19 and WCPO.
Deputies were called around 12:36 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, to the 5100 block of State Route 128 after receiving reports of people shot, sheriff’s office spokesperson Kyla Woods told FOX19. WCPO reported the same time and location in its account of the sheriff’s office response.
The information Woods gave FOX19 matches the account WCPO published from the sheriff’s office on Sunday: the same call time, the same block of State Route 128, and the same two victims. The two outlets’ reports agree on every core fact the sheriff’s office has released so far.
Deputies found a 19-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds, Woods told FOX19. Both were taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the sheriff’s office accounts reported by FOX19 and WCPO.
State Route 128 is also known as Hamilton Cleves Road, FOX19 reported. Deputies were sent to that block of the road after receiving reports of people shot, according to the sheriff’s office accounts in both reports.
The sheriff’s office Criminal Investigation Section responded to the scene and is actively investigating the shooting, Woods told FOX19. WCPO likewise reported that the incident remains under investigation, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
Neither report released the names of the two people who were shot, and neither report described what led up to the gunfire. The sheriff’s office had not announced an arrest or publicly identified a suspect in the accounts published by FOX19 and WCPO on Sunday.
What happens next rests with the sheriff’s investigation. Detectives are expected to work to establish what happened in the 5100 block of State Route 128 and who fired the shots, and the sheriff’s office could release the victims’ names and additional details as the investigation continues.
