Shelby County voters have entered the final week of early in-person voting for the Nov. 3 general election, with ballots being cast at the Shelby County Board of Elections, 230 East Court Street in Sidney, according to the board and the Ohio Secretary of State.
Early in-person voting runs Wednesday, Oct. 28 through Friday, Oct. 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., then Saturday, Oct. 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 1 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., according to the Ohio Secretary of State’s statewide early voting schedule. There is no early voting on Monday, Nov. 2.
The board’s office, in the Shelby County Courthouse in Sidney, can be reached at 937-498-7207, according to the board of elections. Its regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., separate from the extended early voting hours in this final week.
Shelby County’s Nov. 3 ballot carries the statewide races Ohio voters decide this year — governor, attorney general, auditor, secretary of state, treasurer, two Ohio Supreme Court seats and a U.S. Senate seat — along with statewide Issue 3, the photo ID constitutional amendment, and local questions including the county mental health levy renewal and courthouse offices previewed in earlier coverage.
The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail was Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 8:30 p.m., according to the Ohio Secretary of State. Voters who already hold a mail ballot must get it to the board by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3, to have it counted.
Voters who have not yet cast a ballot and miss the early window vote at their precinct polling place on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, when polls across Ohio are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., according to the Secretary of State. Voters in line when a voting session ends are permitted to vote.
Residents can check their registration, view a sample ballot and find their Election Day polling location through the Shelby County Board of Elections and the Secretary of State’s voter tools at voteohio.gov before heading out.
