SIDNEY, Ohio — Shelby County voters have one early-voting session left — Sunday, November 1, from 1 to 5 p.m. — before polls open across the county on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, for the 2026 general election.
Early in-person voting is held at the Shelby County Board of Elections, 230 East Court Street in Sidney, inside the Shelby County Courthouse, according to the board’s page at boe.ohio.gov. The board lists its phone number as 937-498-7207; Saturday’s final full early-voting day ran from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. under the Ohio Secretary of State’s uniform statewide schedule, and there is no early voting on Monday, November 2.
On Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, Shelby County voters vote at their own assigned polling places — not at the board office — with polls open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. statewide, the board states. Voters can confirm their polling place and view their exact sample ballot through the board’s voter tools and the Ohio Secretary of State’s lookup at VoteOhio.gov, and should bring an accepted photo ID, such as an Ohio driver’s license or state ID card, a U.S. passport or a military ID.
Shelby County’s ballot carries a renewal of the county mental health levy, along with a county auditor’s race and other courthouse offices, according to the board’s certified candidate and issues lists for the November 3 election.
The ballot also carries the statewide races every Ohio voter will decide — governor and lieutenant governor, attorney general, auditor, secretary of state, treasurer, two Ohio Supreme Court seats and a U.S. Senate seat — along with statewide Issue 3, the proposed constitutional amendment that would require voters to show photo identification in order to vote, according to the board’s sample ballot.
One deadline matters most for voters still holding a mail ballot: absentee ballots must be received by the board of elections by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, November 3. The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail passed on Tuesday, October 27, at 8:30 p.m., according to the Ohio Secretary of State, so voters holding a completed ballot at this point are advised to drop it off in person at 230 East Court Street in Sidney rather than mail it.
What happens next: early voting closes Sunday at 5 p.m., and Shelby County polls open Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m., when unofficial results begin posting through the board of elections and the Ohio Secretary of State.
