ATHENS, Ohio — Homecoming Week at Ohio University comes to a close Saturday, Oct. 10, with the annual Homecoming Parade stepping off at 10 a.m. through uptown Athens. The parade caps a week of Bobcat traditions that began Oct. 5 and has drawn alumni, students and families back to the bricks.

The parade route winds through the heart of town: units turn onto Union Street, then travel South Congress, President Street, Court Street and Washington Street before reaching College Street, where grandstands sit at the Schoonover Center for Communication. The Marching 110 will stop and play in front of the Konneker Alumni Center on University Terrace, a crowd favorite each year. Those who cannot make it back can watch a free livestream with a quick registration.

The week also featured the Yell Like Hell Pep Rally on Thursday night at the Scripps Amphitheater, and Saturday’s celebration continues after the parade. The Alumni Association hosts the Bobcat Family Tent from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the Ping Recreation Center Lawn, with face painting, music and a DJ, while the inaugural Alumni Tailgate gathers Bobcats of every generation at TailGreat Park starting at 11:30 a.m.

The day wraps up on the gridiron, where the Bobcats host Central Michigan at Peden Stadium at 3:30 p.m. Students are encouraged to wear white for the white-out theme, while general fans are asked to wear green. With alumni bands, floats, community groups and local businesses filling the streets, Saturday’s parade once again brings town and gown together in one of southeast Ohio’s biggest fall traditions.
