MORGAN COUNTY, Ohio — Morgan County voters backed Republican candidates by wide margins in Ohio’s statewide races on Tuesday, Nov. 3, even as Democrats won the state’s top offices, according to unofficial results tabulated by the Associated Press. The AP reported results from 12 of Morgan County’s 13 precincts, an estimated 98% of the county’s vote, and all of the results below remain unofficial until the Morgan County Board of Elections certifies them later this month.

In the race for governor, Republican Vivek Ramaswamy carried Morgan County with 3,061 votes to 1,503 for Democrat Amy Acton, with Libertarian Don Kissick receiving 219, according to the Associated Press. Statewide, the AP called the race for Acton, making her the first woman elected governor of Ohio, and Decision Desk HQ also projected Acton the winner over Ramaswamy.

The county’s U.S. Senate vote followed the same pattern. Republican Sen. Jon Husted received 3,125 votes in Morgan County to 1,408 for Democrat Sherrod Brown, with Libertarian William Redpath receiving 178 and independent Greg Levy 120, according to the Associated Press. The AP called the special election statewide for Brown, and the Columbus Dispatch reported that Brown defeated Husted, Redpath and Levy to return to the Senate and serve the remainder of the term originally won by Vice President JD Vance.

Morgan County voters also strongly backed State Issue 3, the constitutional amendment requiring photo identification to vote. The amendment received 3,747 yes votes to 1,028 no votes in the county, according to the Associated Press. Issue 3 passed statewide, according to the AP and the Columbus Dispatch, and places Ohio’s existing photo ID requirement for in-person voting into the state constitution.

The pattern held further down the statewide ballot. In the secretary of state race, Republican Robert Sprague received 3,289 votes in Morgan County to 1,362 for Democrat Allison Russo and 127 for Libertarian Tom Pruss, according to the Associated Press, even though Russo won the office statewide, according to the AP and the Dispatch.

At the courthouse level, many of Morgan County’s local contests were effectively settled months ago. WTAP reported during the primary season that the Republican primary for county commissioner featured Bill Jenkins against incumbent Cecil Mayle, with no Democrat in the race. NewsForce247 did not find a verified general election result for the commissioner seat or other local offices in an authoritative source by Wednesday morning, and is not reporting a local winner until the board of elections posts its results.

What happens next is the official count. The Ohio Secretary of State’s office notes that election night results are unofficial, and outstanding overseas and military absentee ballots and qualifying provisional ballots are considered during the official canvass. Under the Secretary of State’s Directive 2026-48, county boards must begin the official canvass between Nov. 8 and Nov. 18 and must certify their results no later than Nov. 24. Morgan County’s totals — and the local results the board posts with them — become final only when that certification is complete.
