DAYTON, Ohio — Montgomery County voters are in the final two days of early in-person voting this weekend before the Tuesday, Nov. 3 general election, with the county Board of Elections open Saturday, Oct. 31, and for a final session Sunday, Nov. 1, from 1 to 5 p.m., according to the Montgomery County Board of Elections.

Early voting takes place at the Board of Elections, 451 W. Third St. in Dayton, and voters with questions can reach the board at (937) 225-5656, according to the board. There is no early voting on Monday, Nov. 2, and polls across the county are open on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Turnout has been running far ahead of past cycles. About 13,500 Montgomery County residents had voted early in person by Oct. 20, halfway through the early-voting period, and the number passed 16,000 by the end of that week, Montgomery County Board of Elections Deputy Director Guy Aber told the Sinclair Clarion, Sinclair Community College’s student newspaper. Aber told the Clarion that represented an increase of roughly 200 to 250 percent over the 2022 election at the same point.

“We’re usually seeing about 20,000 [total] early voting,” Board of Elections Director Jeff Rezabek told the Sinclair Clarion. “So we’re gonna blow that out of the water.” Rezabek and Aber also told the Clarion that the board runs a comprehensive audit of ballot accuracy and that both in-person and mail ballots are protected the same way once cast.

Mail voters face a hard deadline this year. Under Ohio’s Senate Bill 293, absentee ballots must be received by the board by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3, to be counted — there is no longer a four-day grace period after Election Day, according to the Ohio Secretary of State’s 2026 voting schedule. Voters holding a completed ballot should deliver it to the board office at 451 W. Third St. rather than risk the mail in the final days.

Montgomery County voters are deciding contested county races, judgeships, the countywide ballot’s local levies and issues, and statewide Issue 3, along with Ohio’s eight statewide races. Voters in 33 precincts will cast Election Day ballots at new polling places this year, so the board encourages every voter to confirm their Election Day location at montgomery.boe.ohio.gov before Tuesday.

What happens next: early voting ends at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1. After that, the only way to vote in Montgomery County is at your assigned precinct polling place on Tuesday, Nov. 3, between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., or by returning a completed absentee ballot to the board office by 7:30 p.m. that night.
