HILLSBORO, Ohio — Highland County voters head to their precinct polling places today, Tuesday, November 3, after early in-person voting wrapped up on Sunday, November 1, closing out nearly four weeks of advance balloting for the 2026 general election, according to the Highland County Board of Elections.

Polls across Highland County are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. today, and any voter in line when the polls close still has the right to cast a ballot. On Election Day, voters must vote at their assigned precinct polling place, the Ohio Secretary of State’s office said.

Early in-person voting ran at the board of elections from October 6 through November 1, with the final week offering extended hours — 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. from October 28 through 30 and a final Sunday session from 1 to 5 p.m. on November 1, according to the board’s published schedule.

Highland County voters are deciding the statewide races at the top of the ticket — governor, U.S. senator, attorney general, auditor, secretary of state, treasurer and two Ohio Supreme Court seats — along with State Issue 3, the proposed constitutional amendment on voter photo ID, their congressional and statehouse races, and county offices including county auditor, according to the Ohio Secretary of State and the Highland County Board of Elections.

One deadline matters most for anyone still holding a mail ballot: under Senate Bill 293, signed by Gov. Mike DeWine in December 2025, absentee ballots must now arrive by the close of polls on Election Day to be counted — there is no longer a four-day grace period, the Columbus Dispatch reported. The Dispatch advised voters to drop ballots off in person rather than risk the mail.

Highland County’s drop-off point is the board of elections office in the Hi-Tech Center at 1575 North High Street, Suite 200, in Hillsboro. Ballots must be received there by 7:30 p.m. tonight. The board can be reached at (937) 393-9961.

After the polls close at 7:30 p.m., the board will report unofficial results as precinct returns come in. Voters who have not yet voted can confirm their precinct polling place through the Ohio Secretary of State’s voter lookup before heading out.
