Early voting for the Nov. 3 general election enters its final week in Gallia County on Monday, with in-person voting available at the Gallia County Board of Elections, 18 Locust Street, second floor, in Gallipolis. Polls on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Monday’s early-voting hours run from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. under the Ohio Secretary of State’s statewide schedule — the first of the extended-hours days in the final week. Voting continues Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 1, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., which is the last day of early in-person voting.

Tuesday, Oct. 27, is also a deadline Gallia County voters should circle: absentee ballot applications must be received by the board of elections by 8:30 p.m. that day. Voters can request an application through the board’s office at the Gallia County Courthouse on Locust Street or through the Secretary of State’s voter tools.

Completed absentee ballots can be returned to the board office in Gallipolis. Under state rules, non-military absentee ballots must be received by the board by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3, to be counted, while military and overseas ballots have until Nov. 7 to arrive by mail.

Registration for this election closed Oct. 5. Gallia County voters can preview what is on their ballot before they vote using the Secretary of State’s sample-ballot and voter-lookup tools, and the board’s site carries official election notices and candidate information for the Nov. 3 general election.

The early-vote site is the board office only — not a voter’s Election Day precinct. Gallia County voters who have moved or changed their name since they last voted should check their registration status before heading to Gallipolis, so a final-week trip is not wasted.

Board staff remind voters to bring valid identification when voting in person. Anyone who has not yet voted early or by mail can still cast a ballot at their assigned polling place on Election Day, Nov. 3, between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
