ZANESVILLE — Muskingum County residents affected by August severe weather can get in-person disaster assistance in Zanesville from Nov. 2 through Nov. 20, according to a community announcement reported by the Zanesville Times Recorder. Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration will be available at the Newton Township Fire Department, 5490 Maysville Pike.

The Muskingum County outreach location will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Times Recorder reported. FEMA and SBA representatives can help survivors with the disaster assistance application process, including questions about applications already filed after the August storms.

The assistance is available to disaster survivors from seven declared Ohio counties: Clermont, Franklin, Hamilton, Licking, Morgan, Muskingum and Perry, according to the announcement reported by the Times Recorder. Residents of any of those counties can use the Zanesville site, which is one of four Survivor Outreach Availability sites scheduled to operate in November.

The other sites reported by the Times Recorder are Franklin County’s location at the Franklin County EMA, 5300 Strawberry Farms Blvd. in Columbus, open Nov. 2 through Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Perry County’s site at the Perry County EMA, 121 W. Brown St. in New Lexington, open Nov. 2 through Nov. 20 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Morgan County’s site at the Riecker Building, 155 E. Main St. in McConnelsville, open Nov. 4 through Nov. 20.

The November outreach sites follow the permanent closure of Ohio’s Disaster Recovery Centers in Franklin and Perry counties, which the Times Recorder reported will close at 4 p.m. Oct. 31. Survivors who still need help after those centers close can continue receiving help with the application process through the Survivor Outreach Availability locations.

For Muskingum County households still repairing August storm damage, the Zanesville site keeps that help local for nearly three weeks, rather than requiring a trip to Columbus or New Lexington. Residents should bring identification and any FEMA correspondence they have received so staff can pull up an existing case during the visit.
