Endeavor Brewing & Spirits will close its original taproom at 909 West Fifth Avenue near Grandview Heights on October 29, the company announced Thursday, October 22, in a social media post reported by The Columbus Dispatch. The closing marks the fourth Columbus-area craft brewery taproom shutdown announced in less than two months.

Endeavor was founded in 2017 by three friends whose beers drew on memories of their world travels, and the company expanded into distilling three years later. It now produces a line of eight styles of vodka, gin, rum and whiskey alongside eight beers on tap at the Grandview-area location.

Barrel & Bloom, the coffeehouse and bar Endeavor opened in Linworth in September 2025, will remain open, the owners said. Endeavor beers and spirits will continue to be served there after the Fifth Avenue taproom closes to daily customers.

Although the taproom will no longer welcome daily walk-in customers, the space will continue to host private events through the holiday season. The owners also said they plan a farewell gathering for patrons, partners and friends, with details still to be announced.

The announcement follows a difficult stretch for Columbus-area craft brewing. Nocterra Brewing suspended operations in Columbus and Powell on August 31, Outerbelt Brewing in Carroll shut down October 5, and Hoster Brewing on Columbus’ East Side has set its last day for October 31.

Nocterra’s owners said at the time they hoped to regroup and re-emerge, and the company has since filed to renew state permits to brew and sell beer in Powell, though not at its Columbus location inside Scioto Audubon Metro Park. Outerbelt’s owners have said they are seeking a buyer for their property between Canal Winchester and Lancaster.

The closings also reflect a national craft-beer market that has tightened after years of rapid taproom growth, with rising costs and shifting consumer habits squeezing smaller operators. In Columbus, the recent wave has touched neighborhoods from Grandview to the East Side and suburbs including Powell, Carroll and Linworth, reshaping a local beer scene that expanded quickly over the past decade.

For Endeavor customers, the final days of regular service at the Fifth Avenue taproom run through October 29, with the Linworth location carrying the brand forward after that date.
