Day Air Credit Union has bought a $6 million building at Austin Landing in Miamisburg to serve as its new headquarters, paying $6.05 million on Sept. 28 for the 60,000-square-foot former headquarters of Teradata. The Dayton-area credit union, which has $908.8 million in assets and 54,544 members, had outgrown its current headquarters and is planning a move in October 2027. The purchase gives Day Air a building three times bigger than the one it is leaving.
President John Theobald said Day Air bought the building last month after outgrowing its 20,000-square-foot headquarters. The credit union had been making do with remote work and leased space to accommodate its operations. The Austin Landing property sits on a tract of more than five acres, giving the credit union room at a single headquarters site instead of relying on a patchwork of remote and leased arrangements.
The building carries a notable Dayton business history. It was the former headquarters of Teradata, an NCR spinoff that had employed 300 people at the Dayton headquarters. Teradata moved its base to San Diego eight years ago. Its former home at Austin Landing in Miamisburg will now be repurposed for a local financial institution that is expanding rather than relocating out of the region.
Day Air does not plan to simply move in as-is. The credit union wants to make the space more vibrant, modern and collaborative, in part to reduce remote work and foster collaboration among its staff. That goal helps explain why the move is scheduled for October 2027, about a year after the purchase, allowing time to reshape a 60,000-square-foot office built for a different company and a different era of work.
Two firms have been brought in for that work. Structure First of Cincinnati is the owner’s representative, and CESO Inc. of Dayton is the architect. Their involvement signals that the project will be managed as a redesign of the space, with local and regional partners overseeing how the former Teradata headquarters is adapted for Day Air’s headquarters needs.
For members and employees, the change is about capacity. A credit union with more than 54,000 members and $908.8 million in assets had been operating from a headquarters it had outgrown, spreading work across remote arrangements and leased space. Consolidating into a larger, purpose-redesigned headquarters is intended to bring more of that work back under one roof at Austin Landing, with collaboration as a stated priority.
What happens next is the build-out toward the October 2027 move. Day Air will work with its owner’s representative and architect to turn the Austin Landing building into a vibrant, modern and collaborative headquarters before staff relocate. When the move is complete, the credit union will have tripled its headquarters space, trading a cramped 20,000-square-foot base for a 60,000-square-foot home on more than five acres in Miamisburg.
