Crawford County voters are in the final days of early in-person voting for the Nov. 3 general election, with the Crawford County Board of Elections in Bucyrus open for extended hours through Sunday, Nov. 1, when early voting ends at 5 p.m.
The board’s office is at 112 E. Mansfield St., Suite A, in Bucyrus, according to the Crawford County Board of Elections and the Ohio Secretary of State’s early-voting directory. The board’s own calendar lists early voting hours of 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29 and Friday, Oct. 30, then 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1 — matching the statewide early-voting schedule published by the Ohio Secretary of State. There is no early voting on Monday, Nov. 2.
On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, polls across Ohio are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., according to the Ohio Secretary of State. Crawford County voters who vote on Election Day go to their assigned polling place, which they can confirm through the board’s voter lookup tools linked from the Crawford County Board of Elections website.
Absentee ballots are also due. The Crawford County Board of Elections notes on its early-voting guidance that a voted absentee ballot must be received by the board by the close of polls — 7:30 p.m. — on Election Day, and that the U.S. Postal Service estimates delivery can take two to five days. Secretary of State Frank LaRose said on Oct. 27 that it might already be too late to drop ballots in the mail and have them arrive by the deadline, according to Cleveland.com as reported by The Columbus Dispatch — which is why election officials are urging voters to return ballots in person at the board office or its drop box instead of mailing them this close to Election Day.
The board has a drop box at the entrance to the courthouse on North Walnut Street in Bucyrus, according to the Crawford County Board of Elections, and the board notes that drop boxes may only be used by a voter to return their own personal ballot. A voter may also deliver a ballot in person to the board office, or have a spouse, child or near relative deliver it under Ohio law, with an attestation form completed at the office, the board’s guidance says.
Crawford County’s Nov. 3 ballot includes the statewide races and statewide Issue 3, the proposed constitutional amendment on photo identification for voting, alongside the county, school and local questions on each voter’s sample ballot. The board’s website links to a sample-ballot lookup so Bucyrus, Galion, Crestline and township voters can review exactly what they will be asked to decide before they go.
This is the second-pass election update for Crawford County in NewsForce247’s county-by-county coverage: the county’s ballot was previewed earlier in the cycle, and this update covers the closing early-voting window as reported by the board itself. Voters with questions can reach the Crawford County Board of Elections through the contact information on its website.
After early voting ends Sunday at 5 p.m., the next chance to vote is Election Day itself. Ballots cast early and absentee ballots received by the deadline are counted as part of the Nov. 3 results, which the board will post through its election-results page after polls close at 7:30 p.m.
