CLEVELAND — A Northeast Ohio accounting firm is expanding its footprint in three of the region’s largest cities, bringing dozens of new jobs with it. State Rep. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) announced that Cohen & Company LTD will grow its operations in Cleveland, Youngstown and Akron, creating 61 new full-time positions across the three cities.
The expansion is expected to generate $6.5 million in new annual payroll while retaining $24.9 million in existing payroll, according to the announcement. The project won approval from the state’s Tax Credit Authority as part of an economic development package brought forward by JobsOhio and its regional partners.
Founded in 1977, Cohen & Company provides assurance, tax and advisory services to clients ranging from privately held companies to public and private funds and Fortune 1000 multinational enterprises. Roemer, a CPA himself, praised the move, calling the firm a longtime provider of quality service to the people of the 38th District and beyond.
The three-city expansion spreads the new jobs across Summit County, the Mahoning Valley and Cleveland, continuing a recent run of professional-services growth in the region. JobsOhio and local economic development partners have targeted the financial and professional services sector as a key driver of payroll growth in Northeast Ohio.
