AKRON, Ohio — Cleveland Clinic Akron General is offering free clinical breast exams on Tuesday, Oct. 20, in Akron, giving women in the community a no-cost way to get checked and ask questions during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The exams will take place at The Front Porch, 798 Grant St., from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The event is open to any woman in the community, including women in reentry, according to a Facebook post by Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro announcing the clinic.

Members of Akron General’s Cancer Center team will perform the exams, checking for lumps or changes in the breast. Patients will also have the chance to ask questions and share concerns directly with the care team during the visit.

For anyone who needs follow-up imaging, team members can also provide referrals for mammograms. That referral path matters: a clinical exam is a screening step, and a mammogram is the imaging test that can confirm what an exam finds.

No appointment is needed. Women can simply walk in during the 90-minute window on Tuesday afternoon, which keeps the event accessible for people who may not have a regular doctor, may be uninsured, or may have put off a check because of cost.

Free screening events like this one are a regular part of how Akron General’s Cancer Center does outreach in Summit County, bringing its staff out of the hospital and into a neighborhood setting where care can feel more approachable.
