Cincinnati drivers face overnight lane closures on Interstates 75 and 74 on Monday and Tuesday nights, October 26 and 27, for two different pavement projects, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Northbound and southbound lanes on Interstate 75 will have lane closures Monday night, October 26, for the Mill Creek Expressway project. A single-lane closure in both directions starts at 8 p.m. between Ohio 126, the Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway, and Towne Street, and a double-lane closure follows at 11 p.m. on the same stretch.

All lanes on I-75 are scheduled to reopen by 6 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, in time for the morning commute. Drivers crossing the Mill Creek valley overnight should expect delays and allow extra time or use an alternate route.

Eastbound Interstate 74 will have a single-lane closure between the bridge over the Great Miami River and the off-ramp to Rybolt Road and Harrison Avenue overnight Monday and Tuesday, October 26 and 27, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., for a resurfacing project. During the single-lane closure, the ramp from eastbound I-74 to Rybolt and Harrison Avenue will also be closed.

On Tuesday, October 27, the ramp from southbound Interstate 275 to eastbound I-74 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday. Drivers who normally use that ramp to head east toward Cincinnati should plan a different connection those overnight hours.

The I-74 resurfacing project will repave the interstate and complete minor bridge work, including deck sealing, expansion joint repairs and drilling of fatigue cracks, on the structures within the project limits and on the West and New Haven Road bridges that carry traffic over I-74.

ODOT schedules the work overnight to limit disruption to daytime traffic, but lane restrictions can still slow overnight travel and freight movement on two of the region’s busiest interstates. Motorists are urged to slow down and move over in work zones.

Both projects are weather-dependent, and ODOT can shift overnight work when conditions require it. Drivers should check the department’s traffic advisories before late-night trips across Cincinnati this week and watch for changing lane patterns near the work zones.
