Early voting in Allen County enters its final week Monday, with the Board of Elections in Lima opening longer hours as the November 3 general election approaches and a key absentee deadline falling on Tuesday.
The board, at 204 North Main Street in Lima, follows the uniform statewide early in-person hours set for Ohio. Voting runs Monday, October 26 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 27 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Wednesday through Friday, October 28 to 30, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The final weekend of early voting follows on Saturday, October 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, November 1 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. There is no early voting on Sunday, October 25, and early in-person voting ends after the November 1 session.
Tuesday is also the statewide deadline for absentee ballot applications: the board must receive applications by 8:30 p.m. on October 27. Voters voting by mail should return ballots promptly, because non-military absentee ballots must be received by the board by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.
Allen County voters first weighed this ballot in the first-pass coverage of the county’s contested commissioner race and local questions, and the second-pass update is about logistics in the closing days: where to go, when the office is open, and which deadlines cannot be missed.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, with polls open statewide from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Voters who do not vote early or by mail must vote at their assigned precinct polling place that day and bring an acceptable photo ID.
