Ohio settles into a mild, mostly cloudy night on Monday, November 2, with no watches, warnings or advisories in effect anywhere in the state. The National Weather Service said no hazardous weather is expected tonight, and the only weather is an early shower chance in central and southern Ohio before clouds thin late — setting up a sunny, warm Election Day on Tuesday.
Early-evening conditions were cloudy and mild for early November across the state. Columbus was cloudy at 57 degrees with a south-southeast wind near 6 mph, Cleveland was cloudy at 62 degrees with a south wind near 11 mph and gusts near 20 mph, Toledo was cloudy at 59 degrees with south winds gusting near 17 mph, and Dayton and Athens were both cloudy at 57 degrees. South winds keep temperatures up overnight, with no frost, freeze, flooding or severe-weather concern.
Northwest and Northeast Ohio stay mostly dry tonight. Toledo remains cloudy with a low near 57 degrees on south winds near 9 mph. Cleveland stays mostly cloudy with lows in the mid-50s and south winds gusting to about 25 mph, and Akron has only a slight chance of rain before 11 p.m., with a low near 54 degrees.
Central, Southwest and Southeast Ohio carry tonight’s shower chances, and they are front-loaded in the evening. Columbus has showers early with a low near 55 degrees before skies turn partly cloudy after midnight. Dayton has patchy drizzle before 11 p.m., with a low near 56 degrees, and Cincinnati shares the early rain chance before clearing later. Athens has showers early with a low near 51 degrees — the coolest spot tonight. Any shower should be brief, and roads stay dry except where one briefly wets the pavement.
Tuesday is Election Day, and it is the clear break in the pattern in every region. The Weather Service expects mostly sunny skies and a high near 76 degrees in Columbus, mostly sunny and near 75 in Dayton, sunny and near 77 in Athens, partly cloudy and near 74 in Toledo, and mostly sunny skies in the mid-70s in Cleveland and Akron, where Akron’s high is forecast near 76 degrees. South winds turn breezy, gusting into the low to mid-20s in parts of northern and southwestern Ohio, but no rain is expected, so voters should find dry, warm conditions statewide.
Tuesday night stays mild under partly cloudy skies, with lows near 58 to 62 degrees statewide, before the pattern turns on Wednesday. Rain becomes likely across Ohio on Wednesday, mainly after 1 p.m. in several areas, and Wednesday night brings the steadiest rain of the week, with a quarter to a half inch possible in parts of central and northeastern Ohio — plan for wet roads that night.
Beyond Wednesday, a chance of rain lingers Thursday in northern and eastern Ohio before skies clear, and highs ease from the 60s on Thursday back toward the 50s by the weekend. Until that midweek system arrives, Ohio gets a quiet night: cloudy and mild this evening, a brief shower possible early in the center and south, clearing late, and then sunshine and mid-70s for Election Day.
