A 36-year-old Stow woman found shot to death inside a home on Vira Road on Wednesday evening, Oct. 28, has been identified as Larretta Ann Allison, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, as reported by the Akron Beacon Journal. No arrests had been made as of early Thursday afternoon, Oct. 29, Stow Police Capt. Bryan Snavely told the Akron Beacon Journal.
Officers were called to the 4000 block of Vira Road at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to assist a landlord with a tenant issue, Snavely told the Akron Beacon Journal. Relatives of the tenant arrived after officers did, concerned they had not been able to reach their loved one who lived in the home, according to the Akron Beacon Journal’s reporting.
Once officers entered the home, they found Allison had been shot, the Akron Beacon Journal reported. She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:52 p.m., according to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, as reported by the Akron Beacon Journal.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting Stow police with the investigation, the Akron Beacon Journal reported. “We’re looking into all aspects of her relationships and her history and her family history and just connections and friends,” Snavely told the Akron Beacon Journal.
In a GoFundMe created by a family member and described by the Akron Beacon Journal, the family said Allison’s life was cut short in an act of domestic violence and that she leaves behind two young children. The family is seeking $15,000 for funeral expenses and for her children, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. Police have not announced a suspect or confirmed a motive in the case.
Stow police are asking anyone with information about the death to call the department’s Detective Bureau at 330-689-5770, the Akron Beacon Journal reported.
For neighbors on Vira Road and across Stow, the case remains open and unsolved, with state investigators now working alongside city detectives. What happens next is the identification of a suspect: police say tips from anyone who knew Allison or saw anything unusual near the home Wednesday could move the investigation forward.
