Early in-person voting for the November 3, 2026 general election enters its final week in Mahoning County, with voters able to cast a ballot at the Mahoning County Board of Elections at 345 Oak Hill Ave., Entrance A, in Youngstown, according to the Ohio Secretary of State’s early voting locations list. The Board of Elections lists the same Youngstown address for its secure ballot drop box, which sits in the circle parking lot of the board office.
The final-week hours are set statewide by the Ohio Secretary of State. According to the Secretary of State’s 2026 voting schedule, early in-person voting runs from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 26, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, and from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. from Wednesday, October 28 through Friday, October 30. Voting continues from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, the last day of early in-person voting.
Tuesday, October 27 is also a key deadline for voters voting by mail. The Mahoning County Board of Elections states that a completed vote-by-mail ballot application must be in by Tuesday, October 27 at 8:30 p.m., a deadline the Ohio Secretary of State also lists for boards of elections statewide. The Board of Elections states that a voted ballot must be returned to the board by Tuesday, November 3 before 7:30 p.m.
The Ohio Secretary of State states that absentee ballots must be received by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, whether returned by mail, in person at the board office, or to the board’s drop box. The Mahoning County Board of Elections states that its drop box is collected periodically throughout the business day by a bipartisan team, and that a voted ballot can only be returned to the drop box by the voter or a family member listed by the board.
On the county portion of the ballot, the Mahoning County sample ballot produced by the Board of Elections shows a contested race for county commissioner for the full term commencing January 1, 2027, between Lauren McNally, the Democratic candidate, and Christine Oliver, the Republican candidate. The sample ballot also shows a contested race for county auditor between Dalton Bosze, the Democratic candidate, and Ralph T. Meacham, the Republican candidate.
Voters will also decide county and local questions that vary by precinct, according to the Board of Elections sample ballot. A county-wide item shown on the sample ballot is Issue 4, a proposed additional tax levy for the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities, which the ballot states the county auditor estimates will collect $15,522,964 annually at a rate not exceeding 2.4 mills, amounting to $84 for each $100,000 of the county auditor’s market value, for five years commencing in 2026. Statewide Issue 3, a proposed constitutional amendment to require voters to present photo identification in order to vote, also appears on the ballot, along with statewide, congressional, legislative and judicial races.
Voters who do not vote early or by mail will vote on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, when polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., according to the Ohio Secretary of State. The Mahoning County Board of Elections did not publish a county early-vote turnout total in the sources reviewed for this update, so voters looking for their own precinct ballot, polling place or ballot status should check the board’s official site or the Secretary of State’s voter lookup before heading out during the final week.
