Prospective students and their families are heading to Ohio State Lima on Friday, Oct. 23, for Buckeye Preview Day, the centerpiece of a busy week of events on campus. The preview runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the G. Gilbert Cloyd Student Commons in Galvin Hall, giving visitors a morning-long introduction to what the Lima campus offers and how to apply.
The program begins with an admissions overview and a look at the academic programs available at Ohio State Lima. Visitors will also hear about financial aid and scholarships, two of the subjects families most often raise when they start comparing colleges. Pam Joseph outlined the session as a chance for prospective students to gather that information in one place, directly from the university, before they make decisions about applying.
Beyond coursework and cost, the morning covers the rest of student life. Sessions will touch on clubs, learning communities, housing, study abroad and honors opportunities, giving visitors a picture of how students spend their time outside the classroom as well as inside it. The preview then concludes with a guided campus tour, so families can see the facilities they have been hearing about and get a feel for the campus in person.
Buckeye Preview Day follows another event held earlier in the week. A Student Wellness Fair took place on Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the Perry Webb Student Life Building. The fair brought together campus and community resources for students, and offered swag and free snacks to those who stopped by, as part of the week’s events at Ohio State Lima.
The weekend continues on stage. The Department of Theatre presents “Villain: DeBlanks! A fill-in-the-blanks comedy” at the Reed Hall Cafe. Performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23 and 24, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on Oct. 25 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. As its subtitle suggests, the production is built around fill-in-the-blanks comedy, giving audiences a lighter way to close out the week on campus.
For families weighing a college choice, Friday’s preview offers a single visit that covers admissions, academics, aid and campus life, ending with a tour rather than a brochure. For the wider community, the theatre performances run through Sunday afternoon. Anyone planning to attend any of the events can find more information on the university website and its events page.
