TOLEDO, Ohio — The University of Toledo opens its Main Campus to prospective students and their families today, Friday, Oct. 23, for Preview UToledo, the university’s fall open house for students weighing where to apply.

The free, public event begins at 9:30 a.m. in Thompson Student Union and features opportunities to connect with current students, faculty, admission counselors and representatives from across the university. It is open to high school students, particularly juniors and seniors, as well as transfer students and others considering UToledo, and guests were encouraged to register in advance.

"Preview UToledo is an opportunity for prospective students and their families to experience firsthand what makes UToledo special," said Heather Lutz, director of enrollment events and visits. "From exploring academic programs and touring campus to connecting with current students and learning about financial aid, we want every guest to leave with a better understanding of the opportunities available here and what it means to be a Rocket."

Throughout the day, attendees can visit college academic and resource fairs, take campus and residence hall tours — including Parks Tower and Honors Academic Village — and sit in on admission and financial aid sessions covering the application process, scholarships and the FAFSA. A student panel lets visitors hear directly from current Rockets, and an application submission station offers hands-on help with applying.

Guests can also tour college facilities to see specific programs and hands-on learning spaces up close, and the university is serving a fall-themed lunch, hot cider and seasonal treats throughout the day.

The open house caps a week in which UToledo also celebrated National Transfer Student Week, Oct. 21 through 23, and comes as the university was recognized for a second consecutive year on Phi Theta Kappa’s Transfer Honor Roll for the pathways it creates for transfer students.

Fall preview days are a key recruiting moment for universities across Ohio, coming just ahead of early application deadlines at many schools. Admissions staff say students who visit in person — walking the academic buildings and residence halls rather than only browsing online — are far more likely to complete an application, which is why UToledo packs tours, panels and application help into a single day.

Campus community members were encouraged to wear Rocket gear today and help welcome the visiting families. "Every interaction a prospective student has on our campus helps shape their impression of UToledo," Lutz said. Information and registration details are available at utoledo.edu/admission/preview.
