SANDUSKY — Cedar Point has closed for the season, and for the second year in a row the Sandusky park’s closing came with little fanfare and no announcement of a new ride for next year, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.
The park has not announced any new rides for the 2027 season, the Beacon Journal reported. Cedar Point’s last major ride addition came in 2025, when it opened the Siren’s Curse roller coaster. That year also marked the reopening of Top Thrill 2, which had closed shortly after its 2024 debut for modifications to its trains.
Cedar Point did announce over the weekend that 2027 will mark the 30th anniversary of its popular HalloWeekends festivities, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. Park spokesperson Sara Gorgon said planning is underway for the 2027 season and that more details about what is in the works for the regular season, along with HalloWeekends offerings, will be revealed in the coming months, the Beacon Journal reported.
In the past, major ride announcements have been made by Cedar Point before the end of the season, the Beacon Journal noted, which made this year’s quiet close stand out for coaster fans who watch the Lake Erie park’s off-season for clues about what is coming next.
One date is already set. Cedar Point will open to the public for the 2027 season on Saturday, May 1, according to the Akron Beacon Journal, and the last day of the 2027 season will be Halloween, Sunday, Oct. 31.
The park has also announced its Black Friday special. The Silver Pass, which includes admission and parking to Cedar Point only from opening day through Labor Day, is on sale for $89 through Nov. 30, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.
For Sandusky and the Lake Erie shore, Cedar Point’s calendar anchors the tourism season, and the months between now and May 1 are when hotels, restaurants and seasonal employers plan around the park’s schedule.
What happens next is the park’s own reveal season: Cedar Point says more details about the 2027 regular season and the 30th-anniversary HalloWeekends will be announced in the coming months, and the $89 Silver Pass offer runs through Nov. 30.
