EATON, Ohio — Preble County voters backed the Republican candidate in every statewide race on the November 3, 2026 general election ballot, according to the unofficial results the county reported to the Ohio Secretary of State. The Secretary of State’s reporting shows 15,514 ballots cast out of 27,856 registered voters — turnout of 55.69 percent — with all 65 precincts reporting. All figures are unofficial until the county board of elections certifies them.
At the top of the ticket, votes cast in Preble County only — not the statewide outcome, decided by all 88 counties — favored Republicans widely, according to the Secretary of State. For governor, Vivek Ramaswamy and Robert A. McColley received 10,457 Preble County votes (68.30 percent) to 4,169 (27.23 percent) for Amy Acton and David Pepper, with Libertarians Don Kissick and James L. Mills at 676. For U.S. Senator, Jon Husted received 10,453 (68.06 percent) to 3,893 (25.35 percent) for Sherrod Brown, with Libertarian William B. Redpath at 694 and Greg Levy at 312.
The pattern held down the ballot in Preble County’s count, according to the Ohio Secretary of State: attorney general, Keith Faber 11,596 (75.59 percent); auditor, Frank LaRose 11,491 (75.03 percent); secretary of state, Robert Sprague 10,913 (71.32 percent); treasurer, Jay Edwards 11,305 (74.37 percent); Supreme Court, Daniel R. Hawkins 11,329 and Colleen O’Donnell 11,240; U.S. House District 8, Warren Davidson 11,377 (74.24 percent); State Senate District 5, Phil Plummer 11,402; State House District 40, Rodney Creech 10,250.
Preble County voters also backed State Issue 3, the proposed amendment to require photo identification to vote, in the county’s own count: 12,309 yes (80.99 percent) to 2,890 no (19.01 percent), according to the Secretary of State. That is the county share only; the amendment’s fate rests on the statewide total.
What we know — and what we’re still waiting on: Confirmed from the Secretary of State’s reporting are the turnout, the complete precinct count, and the county vote above. Not yet shown in the official sources reviewed here are the county’s local outcomes — commissioner, auditor, and any local levies or issues. The Secretary of State’s county feed covers statewide and district contests only, and the Preble County Board of Elections had not posted a detailed unofficial summary with local outcomes in the sources available at writing, so no local winners are reported here. The Secretary of State lists 218 outstanding county ballots — 211 provisional and 7 overseas absentee — for canvass review; voters curing a ballot deficiency have through Saturday, November 7, 2026, under Directive 2026-48.
What happens next is set by Secretary of State Directive 2026-48: the board must begin its official canvass between Sunday, November 8, and Wednesday, November 18, 2026, and certify the county’s official results no later than Tuesday, November 24, 2026, after counting every remaining eligible ballot. The Secretary of State then reviews county certifications ahead of final statewide certification.
Until certification, these numbers remain unofficial and could change slightly. The board, directed by Lisa C. Boggs with Deputy Director Dawn R. White, is at 532 N. Barron Street in Eaton, and its canvass will be the final word on the election, including the local races still awaiting an official report.
