One person was hurt and another was under arrest after a stabbing inside a Kroger store in Cincinnati’s Westwood neighborhood on Saturday morning, Cincinnati police said, in reporting by WXIX.
The stabbing happened at the Kroger on Glenway Avenue in Westwood, near Werk Road, according to WKRC, which reported that police crews were called to the store on Saturday. WXIX reported the incident occurred Saturday morning and that one person was taken into custody at the scene.
Police have not released the name of the person arrested or of the person injured, and they have not described the injured person’s condition. No charges were announced in the initial reports from either station.
According to WKRC, the altercation reportedly began as a dispute inside the store before the stabbing. Police did not say what led up to the confrontation or whether the two people knew each other.
The Glenway Avenue store is one of the main grocery stores serving Westwood, one of Cincinnati’s largest neighborhoods on the city’s west side, and Saturday morning is among its busiest shopping periods. Neither report indicated that the store closed for an extended period.
What we know — and what we’re still waiting on: police have confirmed one injury and one arrest inside the Glenway Avenue store on Saturday morning, and both WXIX and WKRC reported the same basic account from Cincinnati police. Still unknown are the injured person’s condition, the identity of the person arrested, the charges that person will face, and what police say started the dispute.
The investigation remains in its early stages. Cincinnati police have not said whether surveillance video from inside the store will be released or when the arrested person will appear in court.
Shoppers with information about the confrontation can contact Cincinnati police. As with any arrest, the person taken into custody is presumed innocent unless and until charges are proven in court.
What happens next: the arrested person is expected to be formally charged and arraigned in Hamilton County. NewsForce247 will update this story when police release names, charges and the injured person’s condition.
