Meigs County voters are in the final days of early voting for the Nov. 3 general election, with in-person early voting open Saturday, Oct. 31, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Meigs County Board of Elections, 113 E. Memorial Drive, Suite A, in Pomeroy, according to the board and the Ohio Secretary of State’s 2026 voting schedule.

Sunday, Nov. 1, is the final day to vote early in person, with hours from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., according to the Secretary of State’s schedule. There is no early voting on Monday, Nov. 2. Voters who have not cast a ballot by then will vote at their assigned precinct polling place on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, when polls across Ohio are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The board of elections office in Pomeroy is also where Meigs County voters return absentee ballots in person. The board can be reached at (740) 992-2697, according to the board’s page on the Ohio boards of elections site. The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail passed Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 8:30 p.m., under the Secretary of State’s schedule.

Meigs County voters who still hold an absentee ballot should pay close attention to this year’s return deadline. Under Senate Bill 293, non-UOCAVA absentee ballots must be received by the board of elections by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3, to be counted — there is no longer a post-election grace period, according to the Secretary of State’s 2026 voting schedule. Secretary of State Frank LaRose warned on Oct. 27 that it might already be too late to drop a ballot in the mail and have it arrive by the deadline, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

Ballots from military and overseas (UOCAVA) voters follow a different deadline and must be received by mail by Saturday, Nov. 7, according to the Secretary of State’s schedule.

The Meigs County Board of Elections has also been recruiting student poll workers for Election Day: high school seniors age 17 or older may be eligible to work at the polls with a signed parental permission form, after attending a board training session, according to the board’s student election workers page. Students who serve are excused by their high school for the Election Day absence.

What happens next is the close of the early-voting window: early in-person voting ends at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, in Pomeroy, and Election Day follows Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Voters unsure of their polling place can contact the Meigs County Board of Elections at (740) 992-2697. The board has not published a county turnout total for early voting, so none is reported here.
