Lucas County voters are in the final stretch of early voting for the Tuesday, Nov. 3 general election, with the county’s early vote center in Toledo open through Sunday and no early voting on Monday, according to the Lucas County Board of Elections and the Ohio Secretary of State’s official voting schedule.
Early in-person voting takes place at the Lucas County Board of Elections early vote center, 3737 W. Sylvania Ave., Entrance C, in Toledo, the board reports. The statewide hours set by the Secretary of State are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1 — the last day of early voting. There is no early in-person voting on Monday, Nov. 2.
On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, Lucas County voters cast ballots at their assigned neighborhood polling places, with polls open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. statewide, according to the Secretary of State. Voters who are unsure of their polling place or want to preview exactly what is on their ballot can check their sample ballot through the Lucas County Board of Elections.
Mail voters face the election’s hardest deadline this year. Under Ohio’s current rules, most absentee ballots must be received by the board of elections by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3, to count — there is no longer a multi-day grace period after Election Day for most mail ballots, the Secretary of State’s schedule states. Voters still holding a completed ballot can deliver it in person to the board office at 3737 W. Sylvania Ave. by that deadline instead of relying on the mail.
Lucas County’s ballot carries the statewide races Ohio voters are deciding this fall — including governor, attorney general, secretary of state, treasurer, auditor, U.S. senator, the Ohio Supreme Court seats and statewide Issue 3 — alongside the county, municipal, school and township offices and levies listed on each voter’s sample ballot, according to the board of elections.
The board reminds voters to bring an accepted photo ID for in-person voting, as Ohio law requires. Anyone in line when the early vote center or a polling place closes is still permitted to vote.
What happens next: early voting ends Sunday at 5 p.m., the county goes quiet on Monday while precincts are set up, and polls open across Lucas County at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. Results begin after polls close at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 3, with the board of elections reporting unofficial totals that night.
