MARIETTA, Ohio — Peoples Bancorp Inc., the Marietta-based parent company of Peoples Bank, reported net income of $32.6 million for the third quarter of 2026, or $0.91 per diluted common share, in results the company announced Oct. 20 through PR Newswire.
The quarter’s profit rose from $28.0 million, or $0.78 per share, in the second quarter of 2026, and from $29.5 million, or $0.83 per share, in the third quarter of 2025, according to the company’s release. Non-core items, including one-time losses and acquisition-related expenses, reduced earnings per share by $0.13 in the quarter, the company said.
“We are very pleased with our strong performance for the third quarter of 2026, highlighted by continued improvement in our net interest margin, net interest income, our fee-based revenue streams, and overall profitability,” Tyler Wilcox, Peoples’ president and chief executive officer, said in the company’s release.
Net interest income reached $93.8 million in the quarter, and the company’s net interest margin improved to 4.31%, according to the release. Peoples also declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.42 per common share, payable Nov. 16 to shareholders of record on Nov. 2, the company announced.
Peoples is in the middle of two acquisitions. In April, it announced a cash-and-stock deal valued at about $76.6 million to acquire Citizens National Corporation of Paintsville, Kentucky, according to its release, and it later announced an all-stock transaction valued at $728.1 million to acquire Capital Bancorp.
Headquartered in Marietta since 1902, Peoples had $9.7 billion in total assets as of Sept. 30, 2026, and 144 locations, including 127 full-service bank branches in Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland, according to the company.
For Washington County, Peoples remains one of the region’s signature employers and its most prominent publicly traded company, listed on Nasdaq under the symbol PEBO. Its third-quarter results, and the dividend payment arriving in mid-November, will be watched by shareholders across the Mid-Ohio Valley as the company closes out its year.
