NORWALK, Ohio — Early in-person voting for the Nov. 3 general election has entered its final week in Huron County, with the Huron County Board of Elections, 180 Milan Ave., Suite 4, in Norwalk, open for extended hours through Sunday, Nov. 1.

Under the Ohio Secretary of State’s statewide schedule, early voting runs from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26; 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27; and 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 28–30. The final weekend offers voting from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1. There is no early voting on Monday, Nov. 2.

Tuesday, Oct. 27, is also a hard deadline for mail voting: absentee ballot applications must be received by the board of elections by 8:30 p.m. that night. Voters who have already received an absentee ballot should return it promptly — ballots must be received by the board by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3, to be counted, and election officials recommend hand-delivering a ballot to the board office rather than mailing it this close to Election Day.

Huron County voters are deciding county offices, township and municipal issues, and school questions alongside the statewide races on the Nov. 3 ballot, including Ohio’s governor’s race, the other statewide executive offices, the state Supreme Court seats, and statewide Issue 3. The county’s first-pass ballot preview earlier this month laid out the local contests voters will find when they reach the voting booth.

Early voters should bring an acceptable photo ID, such as an Ohio driver’s license or state ID card, a U.S. military ID, or a passport. Voters who have moved or changed their name since the Oct. 5 registration deadline may be directed to a provisional ballot, which the board verifies before counting.

On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, polls across Huron County will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and voters must cast their ballots at their assigned precinct polling place rather than at the board office. Anyone in line at 7:30 p.m. will be permitted to vote.

The board of elections can be reached at 419-668-8238 for questions about early voting, absentee ballots, and Election Day polling locations. With one week left, officials across Ohio are urging voters who plan to vote early to use the extended weekday hours to avoid the final weekend lines.
