Early in-person voting is underway in Vinton County, and voters in McArthur have a Saturday option this weekend. The Vinton County Board of Elections is open for early voting on Saturday, October 24, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., under the statewide early in-person voting schedule set by the Ohio Secretary of State for the November 3, 2026 general election. Early voting in Ohio began on October 6 and continues through Sunday, November 1.
Voters cast an early in-person ballot at the board of elections office, in the Community Building, Unit 1, at 31935 State Route 93 in McArthur. The board can be reached by phone at 740-596-5855, and its mailing address is P.O. Box 314, McArthur, OH 45651. A drop box is available at the State Route 93 office for voters returning absentee ballot applications or completed ballots, according to the board.
No Vinton County-specific turnout total is being reported here — only that voting is underway and the schedule is moving into its final, longer week. After Saturday, early voting resumes Monday, October 26, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., continues Tuesday, October 27, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and runs Wednesday through Friday, October 28 to 30, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. each day.
The final weekend of early voting follows the Secretary of State schedule as well: Saturday, October 31, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, November 1, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. There is no early in-person voting on Sunday, October 25, or on Monday, November 2, under that schedule. Voters who prefer a weekday visit outside the early-voting hours should note the board lists its regular office hours as 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
An important deadline arrives that week for voters who want to vote by mail. Absentee ballot applications must be received by the board by 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, according to the Secretary of State. The board notes voters can download and print an application and mail it in, email a request for an application, or call the office and leave a detailed message asking that one be mailed to them.
On the November 3 ballot, Vinton County voters will decide statewide and local contests, including choosing a new county commissioner — a race covered in earlier NewsForce247 reporting on the county ballot — along with the other offices and issues on their precinct ballot. Voters can review what applies to them through the board and the Secretary of State before they go.
For voters who wait until Election Day, polls in Ohio are open on Tuesday, November 3, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Secretary of State states. Absentee ballots that are not voted in person must be received by the board of elections by 7:30 p.m. on November 3 to be counted under the state schedule for non-military and non-overseas ballots. Questions can go to the board at 740-596-5855.
