Summit County voters can cast an early ballot in person Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Summit County Board of Elections, 1050 E. Tallmadge Ave. in Akron. Saturday is the first weekend day of early voting for the November 3 general election, and the board can be reached at 330-643-5200 for voter questions.
The board moved to the Tallmadge Avenue location in Akron’s Chapel Hill neighborhood last year from its former Grant Street home, a change election officials have emphasized so voters do not head to the old site. In-person early voting continues at the board office only, on a set statewide schedule that expands in the final week before Election Day.
After Saturday, early voting hours in Summit County are 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 26; 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27; and 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, October 28-30. The final weekend of early voting offers hours Saturday, October 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, November 1 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. There is no early voting on Monday, November 2.
Voters who prefer to vote by mail face a deadline this coming week. Absentee ballot applications must be returned to the board by October 27. Under a state law signed in December 2025, absentee ballots must now be received by the close of polls on Election Day, 7:30 p.m. on November 3, to be counted, with an exception for military and overseas voters. The previous four-day post-Election Day grace period no longer applies.
Summit County voters will decide a full November ballot that includes statewide races, state legislative and congressional contests, county offices, judicial races, and local levies and issues across the Akron area’s cities, villages, townships and school districts. Voters can review their specific sample ballot and check their registration through the Summit County Board of Elections and the Ohio Secretary of State’s voter lookup tools before they go.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, when polls across Ohio are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Voters casting a ballot on Election Day must go to their assigned precinct polling location, while any registered Summit County voter may use the single early voting site at the board office through November 1.
Board officials encourage voters who can to use the remaining early voting days rather than waiting for Election Day, when lines at busy precincts can grow. Voters should bring an accepted form of photo identification, and anyone with questions about registration status, ballot contents or voting hours can call the board at 330-643-5200 or visit summitcountyboe.gov.
