Gallia County voters can cast an early in-person ballot this week at the Gallia County Board of Elections in Gallipolis, where voting for the November 3 general election runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, October 19 to 23. The board office at 18 Locust Street is the county’s early voting site, and the weekday hours continue a schedule that began October 6 under the Ohio Secretary of State’s statewide voting calendar.

The Board of Elections is located at 18 Locust Street, Gallipolis, OH 45631, and can be reached at 740-446-1600. Early in-person voting takes place at the board office, not at a voter’s regular precinct polling place, which will open only on Election Day. Voters who are in line when an early voting session is scheduled to end are allowed to vote, and no application is required to vote early in person.

Hours expand in the final week. Early voting will be offered Saturday, October 24, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., then Monday, October 26, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Tuesday, October 27, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Voting continues October 28 to 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., October 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and November 1 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. There is no early voting on Monday, November 2.

Voters who prefer to vote by mail still have time to request an absentee ballot, but a key deadline is approaching. Absentee ballot applications must be received by the Board of Elections by 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27. The board says voters can download and print an application and mail it to 18 Locust Street, Gallipolis, OH 45631, or call 740-446-1600 to request that an application be mailed to them. Voted absentee ballots must be received by the board by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, November 3, to be counted.

On the November 3 ballot, Gallia County voters will decide statewide and congressional contests, state legislative races, and local questions and levies, including fire levies affecting communities across the county. Because ballots vary by precinct, township and village, the races and issues a voter sees will depend on where that voter lives.

Before heading out, voters can check their registration status and view a sample ballot through the Ohio Secretary of State’s voter tools at VoteOhio.gov and through the Gallia County Board of Elections. Checking ahead confirms a registration is current and lets a voter see the exact races and issues for their precinct.

Early in-person voting ends Sunday, November 1, at 5 p.m. After that, voters vote at their assigned precinct on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, when Ohio polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Officials encourage voters to make a plan now — vote early in Gallipolis this week, return an absentee ballot by the deadline, or vote on Election Day.
