TOLEDO, Ohio — Drivers planning Saturday morning trips through downtown Toledo or around the University of Toledo should plan for detours. Several street closures are set for Saturday, Oct. 10, as the city hosts two events and completes utility work.
Parts of Bancroft Street and several other streets near the University of Toledo will be blocked Saturday morning for the university’s Homecoming Parade, the Toledo Department of Transportation announced. The parade is part of the weekend’s homecoming festivities on campus.
Downtown, the ProMedica Stroke Network’s Be Fast 5K Run and one-mile walk will also close streets Saturday morning. Summit Street and the MLK Bridge will be blocked during the race and walk, according to the transportation department.
Separately, utility work will close part of Parkside Boulevard on Friday only, the department said, meaning commuters may hit a closure there today before the weekend event closures begin.
Motorists are encouraged to check posted signage and give themselves extra time if traveling near downtown or the university area Saturday morning. Closures tied to the parade and the 5K are expected to lift once the events clear.
