CHILLICOTHE — The city of Chillicothe is asking residents to fill out an online survey that will help shape a new Safety Action Plan aimed at reducing crashes on city streets. City officials announced the survey in a social media post this week, calling on drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians to share where they feel unsafe traveling through town.

The plan is being developed with federal roadway safety grant funding and will map out specific projects and priorities for cutting down on traffic collisions and serious injuries. City officials say community input is critical, because residents know the trouble spots — the intersections, crosswalks, and corridors where close calls are common — better than any traffic model can show.

The survey asks people to pinpoint problem locations and describe the dangers they see, from speeding cut-throughs to poor sight lines. Responses will feed into the formal plan, which cities typically use to pursue construction dollars for fixes like signal upgrades, safer crossings, and calmer street designs.

Chillicothe joins a growing list of Ohio communities turning federal safety grants into concrete street-improvement blueprints. Residents can find the survey through the city’s social media channels and are encouraged to weigh in early so their neighborhoods make the priority list.
