YOUNGSTOWN — President Donald Trump returns to Ohio on Monday for a campaign rally at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, stumping for fellow Republicans with the Nov. 3 midterm election just weeks away. The visit comes as polls show tight races for a U.S. Senate seat and the governor’s office.
Doors open at 3:30 p.m., the program begins at 5:30 p.m., and Trump’s remarks are scheduled for 7 p.m. — an hour later than originally announced. Only ticket holders and credentialed guests will be admitted, and attendees should expect heavy security protocols and long lines at checkpoints. Tickets are coordinated through the Trump 47 Committee, with as many as four tickets available per request.
Trump is campaigning for U.S. Sen. Jon Husted, whom Gov. Mike DeWine appointed to the seat once held by now-Vice President JD Vance. Husted faces former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown in a close contest for the remainder of Vance’s term. Trump is also backing entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy for governor against former Ohio Department of Health director Dr. Amy Acton, a Youngstown native and Youngstown State University graduate.
Monday’s rally is Trump’s second Ohio stop in just over a week, following an Oct. 3 event in Vandalia. Ohio Democrats have not won a governor’s race since 2006, but polling suggests this year’s contests are competitive as voters weigh high prices and the national political climate.
